How easy is the Immobilizer to use?

The Immobilizer is best used when the animal is placed in a race or crush, with a non-slip floor surface.  One electrode is clamped to the corner of the animal's mouth, and the other electrode is clamped to the caudal fold.  Then the proper amount of current is applied, following the simple instructions included with the Immobilizer.

Although the Immobilizer can replace the need for general anesthesia under field conditions, it is not intended to replace the use of local anesthetic for certain veterinary-performed procedures.  For some activities, such as hoof trimming, it may be preferable to administer a tranquilizer and to put the animal on the ground before using the Immobilizer.
The Immobilizer also offers another advantage over the use of general anesthesia.  If bloating or restricted breathing occurs, the unit can simply be turned off, eliminating any danger to the animal.  Of course, this is not an option when using general anesthesia.
